Monsanto 1990 Chianti Classico Riserva IL Poggio

21 years ago I was still in high school, meanwhile, In the Chianti region of Italy, Monsanto winery was crafting a single vintage Chianti Classico Riserva that was a "good vintage"  I bought this wine at a wine tasting for "the industry" @ the State Theater in downtown Cleveland after tasting it when it was just 5 years old.  I was new to this wine thing and thought, what the hell, it tasted great, let's see how it ages...  Last night, we tasted it.  Years of cellaring, sitting, waiting, wishing as the song goes.  It was like a meal in itself, rich, full bodied and aged well.  Now, we have to see what wine in the cellar can last another 21...  We'll see.  Check in with us later. say, in about 240 months.

Here's one of the dishes I created to taste with it.
