"Baconed" Green Beans

So, week 2 of my Chicago trips.  back home after a whirlwind of training, interaction and learning!  This little side dish goes great with a nice steak or seafood.  The key is the sauce!

Baconed Green Beans

2 pounds fresh green beans,trimmed
8 slices applewood smoked bacon, chopped
1/2 cup dried cherries or cranberries.
Salt & pepper
1 T.olive oil
1 teas. fresh garlic,minced
1 can Dr. Pepper

Method:

1.in large saute pan, heat garlic, oil & beans, tossing for 2 minutes.
2.add bacon, salt & pepper.
3.deglaze pan with Dr. Pepper, add dried cherries & turn heat to low and reduce for 2-3 minutes.
